Ah hell have another sketch
Commission Progress
So she said that the dimensions were wrong. So I had to go resize this a bit but the nice thing is that I can put more Jamaican vegetation in now 83. We have the most amazing plants don't we guys? =D. I don't pay attention enough >_<
Added in some rough type so I can see how htis will look with words and such. Looking okay so far I think. Tomorrows I'm going to fix up the plants and the goats :3

Random Girl
I realise I haven't posted anything here in a while so, when I sketched this girl's face in coloured pencil on a scrap of paper, I figured it was better than nothing. The pressure of portfolio prep. is off, and the pressure of commissions is back on so this sketch was my tiny smidgen of stress relief. Sorry it's not a part of the theme, Kat.

No scanner
Commission continued.
The preview I sent the lady. I realised the colour was kinda drab not very caribbeanany...(is that a word? 9_9 ) so slapped on a new layer, filled it with a tan colour and set it to colour dodge... worked wonders don't you think? :3 Working on that damn lion at the moment. The plants are what's gonna kill me first though.

How I do Commissions continued
Hello again!! Hahah the lady emailed me and said this was due tomorrow *gah* I'm not even half way there yet but getting the details in. I'm cutting so many corners right now it's not even funny...
Anyway!
Here's a wider spread of the work.. As you can see position of everything is finalised. Now I'm trying to work out colour and shadow. The plants in the foreground will be last. I'm trying to give the mummy goat a Jamaican feel by putting her in a bandanna print.
Detail of the lion :3 He has dreads!! which will be more apparent later.
Detail of the goats She has a big ass leaf (either banana or the other one which i can't remember the name of at the mo...)
Still a long way to gooooo *cries*

How I work on a commission....
Sigh... it's been a long day. Exhausted and really should be in bed. But I suddenly realized that a book commission was due on Wednesday and I hadn't gotten further than the initial layout sketch. thought I'd kill two birds with one stone and upload how I undertake a commission.
Here I tried not to worry too much about details, just some quick doodles to know what I was drawing and where everything would go. Including where the writing of the story will be. There's going to be a lot of Jamaican plants and flowers on the lower right there (beside the Doctor Bird).
Going into some details now. I have a basic idea of how I want my lion to look, I'm giving him a dreadlocks mane (gasp) but I think it'll look cool on him and be a nice connection to Rastafarianism without being too gaudy. The goats are still not fleshed out and you can tell by how faintly I've drawn them. Never actually drawn a goat before @__@;; No wait! I have... but it wasn't a very good goat. Anyway... Added some rough flat colours so get an idea on how this will look with colour. Everything needs to be more lush but that'll come later. Doctor bird disappeared for now but that's okay, I know he's supposed to be there and will probably put him in last.
That's my current work at the moment. Anyone want to see more as I progress? :3

It really shows I like his stuff cuz I almost never make a fan art. But I gonna try to make them more oftem!
Tried to drew her in perspective, I hope I got it right! :D

A sketch on doll addiction
I am always arguing with Tar and Ren that they have a really crazy addiction to those Lutz dolls. I just don't get it. Anyway XD Tar showed me one of the really expensive ones and one think lead to another and this joke popped up.
Scary thing is I can see Tar doing this.
drawn with my new intuos =D i can actually sketch with it 83!!
head master
I am a little late on posting. just stealing 5 mins. to sketch and post. The moral of the doodle...None. but if I should BS. (here goes) "Look at mr.Bighead, his salute cannot go higher than his brow, when he was young, kids hid behind his bigass head playing hide and seek, he saved his village by using his big ole head to dam the rising floods yet we complain about our imperfections. count your blessings and remember the less privilliged mr.Bigheads among you".
oooh, oooh, btw, I like the monthly theme and pass on canvas idea thingamajig. I am in!!!!

I attack you with my tattoos
The Weekly Sketch is on a roll, awesome. :D Mosskat, if you're reading this, you should start the 'monthly theme' project now; there're already a few of us interested in it. ^^
Two coloured sketches from my personal Apples versus Oranges project; this is mostly an experiment of character style and - more importantly - the sigils and tattoos that manifest when the characters use their magic. Samiel's stance looks a bit odd, but I like how the organic light-and-shadow tattoos came out.
Sorry Sam, but I have to admit that I like how Zephyr turned out better. I think his geometric sigils and 'circuit tattoos' are pretty cool.

WEEKLY SKETCH INFO PAGE
Before I go any further I'd like to put out a big squishy welcome to our new members Shiar and Pete. And Also welcome to those folks who were here but only now got a chance to post. WELCOME! XD!
To quote Shard, it seems Weekly Sketch really is taking off nicely :3. I know everyone is very busy right now but you all seem to have found time to post this month. I'm very pleased ^____^.
I'd like to run over some concerns.
1) Some of you may have noticed that logging into Weekly Sketch has just about become impossible. If you are having this problem it's because you have not yet gotten a Gmail account. Apparently Blogger and Google has joined forces. I fought this change to the very last minute myself but had to give in or just not post ever again. I assume this is why about four persons are not posting at the moment. (I'm assuming...)
To reclaim your old account you must do the following.
a) Go to the front page of Blogger
b) Click 'Claim your old Blogger account.' (it's at the top of the page, look for it)
c) Follow the instructions that Blogger provides.
NB If you have lost your old password simply go ahead and make a new account with a gmail account. You can send me an email with your new name at kocagirl@yahoo.com and I'll add you. (Why this method? Some person might try 'pretending' to be one of you to get in the blog). I will then delete your old account (don't worry your old posts won't be affected).
2) I notice not everyone has at yet given themselves an Icon. It's quite easy to do this just poke around your personal blog until you find Profile and give yourself an Icon. I like being able to identify all the persons on this blog. Remember this your little nook, let's spruce it up shall we? The redesigning of the site will come soon I'm hoping.
Now on to other matters
I would like to propose to the Weekly Sketch something Shard suggested. He called it *flips through notes* Pass the Canvas. Where several persons would work on one piece. Of course, this is an exercise purely for fun and should not be entered if you are afraid of your work being altered, erased etc. Here's a link to the rules written by Shard himself :3 They are very clear and emphasizes on not taking Pass the Canvas too seriously. Read if interested and give a shout. It makes no sense to try if at least three people aren't interested.
Now my proposal. ^_^
I've had this on the agenda for a long time but decided to see how you all liked the water first. I'd like to propose a monthly theme. Where you upload at least one picture for the month that has to do with the subject presented. Of course this is optional. We certainly don't want to force it on anyone. But it provide inspiration for some. I'll upload the theme tonight and see if anyone likes it. If it kicks off we can all throw suggestions in and draw lots.

Photoshop Smoke Effects
Given the recent arrival (or at least, first posts) of more Weekly Sketchers, I really should start posting more sketches here. I'll get around to it sooner or later. In the meantime, I thought I'd share a tutorial on how to create smoke effects in Photoshop with you.
I love you like a laser gun loves adamantium balloons.
